Bridle Fitting
I can come to visit your horse to carry out a complete bridle fitting consultation to help you find the best solution for you both and ensure your horse is comfortable. I offer either fully bespoke handmade bridles or can alter your existing bridle if suitable and depending on your preference and budget.
Before your appointment
First I will book a date with you for your appointment and will ask you to fill out an online form to let me know about you and your horse, any physical or ridden issues you are having, your current bridle and what activities you currently do together or are planning to do in the future.
Once your appointment is booked and I have all your information, I will send you an invoice which is to be paid before I see you. Appointments are £30 per horse or £25 per horse if the are 2 or more horses to be seen on the same yard. If you are located more than 1 hour away from me, there will be an additional mileage charge, contact me to discuss this.
During your appointment
The initial appointment usually lasts around 1 - 1.5 hours. During this, I will carry out a full assessment of your horse's head and mouth and discuss with you anything I have noted that may affect the fit of the bridle.
I will then put together a bridle to fit your horse so I can assess you and your horse when ridden. If you are interested in ordering a bespoke made-to-measure bridle, I will put together a trial bridle using parts from my fitting kit. If you don't have the budget for a fully bespoke bridle and if suitable, I can adjust parts from your current bridle and use parts from my fitting kit if needed.
We will then do a ridden assessment to see how your horse goes in the chosen bridle and make any changes if necessary. In some cases I may not be able to make up a trial bridle during your first appointment, this may be the case if your horse or pony is particularly large or small or if you have more specific requirements. In this case I would measure your horse during my first visit and then see you ridden during my second visit once I have made/altered your bridle.
Once I have assessed your horse, fitted the trial bridle and seen you ride, we will discuss your options for a new bridle or adjusting your current bridle along with the cost of this.
After your appointment
If you are happy to go ahead with my recommendations, I will send you an invoice for payment for half of the total cost for your bridle. Once this has been paid, I will then carry out this work at my workshop. Once your bridle is ready, I will send you an invoice for the remaining payment and arrange to come back out to fit it to your horse and see you ride again to check the fit is just right and that you and your horse are both happy.
The second appointment to bring out your new bridle usually lasts less than 1 hour, the price for this is included in the cost of your bridle. If you are located more than 1 hour away from me, there will be an additional mileage charge for my second visit.
Currently I can only visit yards within 2 hours of my workshop in Milngavie.
